Experiencing tension, feeling stressed, time to hit the shower. Yes. This is what my experience says. I have always practised it but realized much of its effect while currently pursuing my PGDM program. Lots of assignments, task, presentations , exams, quiz, events etc. exert such pressure that I sometimes feel like leaving the program midway and returning back to my old job. These are however a part n parcel of life here and you just can't get away from it.
Recently I have found that though I can't get away from the stress but I do feel much lighter and more focussed after taking showers.I have made it a sort of ritual now to take a shower after one or two assignments so as to maintain the focus and continuity.
Earlier during my corporate days I experienced a lot of work stress and it was then that I realised the miracles of a rejuvenating shower and this indulgence made its way to the top of my list. It make me feel easy and comfortable. Sure,it doesn't take away your problems or make your work easy but then it reminds you of other thing that need your attention or are there for you to enjoy. So the focus shifts to something else for awhile and the pressure is eased.Even in poor health(headache etc) it has its therupatic value and aids in getting some relief.I will suggest to you all to enjoy the shower as much as you can and capitalize each and every moment of it. Its fun and refreshing. Have atleast twice, daily.
Now, for some deep knowledge :).
Information: When taken with lukewarm water, it has a greater impact. Warm to hot water helps ease muscle aches and soothes tired muscles. Also, the steam created helps open up nasal passages so you can breathe better.
Process: Close your eyes and relax under the shower. Imagine all your stress and tension being washed away as you lather and rinse. Breathe the steam in deeply, and allow it to open your pores and then cleanse you.
After Shower: You’ll immediately feel the difference in your energy level and disposition after a shower but don't waste this moment by indulging yourself in other stress taking acts. Just rest a while and enjoy the moment. And then you could probably start focussing on the things you feel are important for you.
Tip: You cold also use some bath oils to recharge and refresh your senses.
Recommendation: Take a few extra minutes in the shower to help relax. On most days, you can shower to get clean but for days when you need to relax, enjoy the moment of isolation. Imagine not just cleansing your self physically but also of all worries and tension. You can stay in the shower and pray, meditate or visualize a happy, healthy and relaxed you.
Hope you benefit from my suggestions and while you are reading this blog I would probably be taking a shower, in order to focus on my next assignment.
