After describing significance of no 50 its time for 101. The very first day in my college hostel i was told that i have to live in Room No 101, that was the very first one. Being the very first room it has its own advantages and disadvantages. Advantages were less but disadvantages were much more. And it had its own specialities too. Lets discuss one by one…
Advantages:
Since it was the first room and at ground floor , no need to climb upstairs and distance to college was minimum w.r.t any other room.
It was next to bathroom so it had some cooling effect coming from the common wall. 
Amazing but true…
Any news if needed to be conveyed to hostellers we were the first one to get it.
Disadvantages:
Being the first room, we get much disturbed by any visitors. Time again people knocked our door asking about any thing and for anybody..
Right from seniors to our classmates used to make frequent visit to our rooms for taking rest, combing hair , putting creams and powder , using our soaps for washing hands after potty session(which i found worst thing , so we had put aside a soap for visitors separately).
Also it was a perfect place for them while making a bunk as most of the times they find our room open during our college hours as we (me and my room partners ) were frequent bunkers.
All in all we had no privacy left with us. Even girls who used to come over for making a PCO call were able to see the gallery space in front of our door as it was very close and peek able from PCO.(Although don’t know its advantage or disadvantage )
The cooling sensation advantage had disadvantage when access water logging made the whitewash of wall to left and drop on floor in bits and pieces.
Speciality:
Ours was the only room having same set of pillow and bed sheet , i had personally checked each and every room , no other room had all room mates with same sets.
Ours was the tech savvy room , where one could found most of the usable gadgets (for hostellers) of that time right from 2 Walkman , mobile, one audio system (with lots of audio cassettes and CV ), a radio multiple earphones then later a laptop, pen drive (both first one in hostel) ,mp3player, handycam.
We always had some or the other food item there to feed our stomach and other hostellers too used to take benefit of it which sometimes had been the cause of fight and argue also.
And best part is we again had all super quality books for our course material but never studied any time. There was always an absence of study ambience in our room except two days before exams.We had many novels too for reading anyways..
Ours was medical room for hostellers too , most of the medicine too were available to us and also we were given the first aid box for hostellers.
P.S.: As mentioned earlier my university roll no was 0401010101 because 101 was the roll no assigned to me , rest 0401010 is college and course code. So 101 is really special to me.
