Meghdootam and Cloud Technology

Meghadūta is an epic poem written by Kālidāsa,the Shakespeare of India, considered to be one of the greatest Sanskrit poets. The basic theme of his this creation was the solitude of the protagonist Yaksha who used Clouds as his messenger to show his love and affection to his wife while being in exile. As the monsoon cloud makes it way, to satiate the scorched earth, many lovelorn heart long to be with their beloved! Yaksha, who was a servant of the God of Wealth, Kuber, had allowed God Indra’s elephant to invade Kuber’s garden. Thus he was exiled away in the solitude of Mount Ramgiri as a punishment. Eight months had already passed when the south-west monsoon had begun its northward journey. Yaksha could hardly bear this separation from his beloved wife any longer. He thus invokes the cloud to be his messenger to her and thus begins the lyric which when translated goes as:

Comes the rain-bearing cloud,
A lovelorn lover calls out loud,
From Ramgiri to Alaka, to go
To his lovelorn beloved, lo!
To carry his love message
In exile, his only assuage!
Which way do the clouds go?
That too the poet shows!
Crossing vales and over mountains
With peacocks and flowing fountains.
A description, vivid and imaginative
Fabulous, fantastic and fascinating!!

So it talks of sending messages via cloud and further in his romantic poem he mentioned about sending pictures and compositions via clouds. Now to some it may seem like total literary and metaphor piece of work where its just an imagination of poet. I mean yeah... who can sent pictures and voice using cloud as a messenger  that too at that time when there were few technological advancement. But I view it from the different scientific angle and believe that it was not an imagination but merely a truth. We were so advance at one time that what scientists are inventing and doing research was part of Indian culture. Let it be flying plane, weapons and others. I can relate this much talked about Cloud Technology of these days to Meghduta. What is Cloud technology or computing.... nothing but data and operations to be performed at a server which is not local but at some common place which is always accessible via internet. Our mails, stored pics at some site etc. are result of cloud technology only. So cant we believe the same internet kind of technology at that time. Yeah....It might can be the surrender of our mind to an omniscient, omnipotent Viswa Chaitanya, a Universal Consciousness that the great scientists or rishis dreamed of as an analogy to internet. And might be the cloud has been given a metaphor as a messenger so as to fit exactly for a romantic poem , or who knows there was some technology where they might had really extracted some connection via real physical clouds only. Why a cloud?Because it is in the air, is pure and ethereal, and let us admit, somewhat virtual. Whatever the scene be it might was as simple for them as for us sending mms and sms.So none literary inspiration is baseless, at least I don't think in this case.

Baby Whisperer

In last two months of mine, I have been between so many kids and babies that I have started learning their complex yet subtle language where without saying correct language and phonetics they express them all.
The one thing that I got specialized after noticing is when they want to piss or have sense of micturation (toilet). The very first kid whom I met used to express this feeling by saying "Chhi Chhi" and her parents used to understand she has got ''Chhi Chhi" to do. Than I came to know from a friend that there is another baby related to her who used to say "Pi Pi". Some other words which other babies have used are "Chu Chu","Pilla Pilla","Moolti" etc.  So words changed but the meaning remained same. So in this way babies pick certain words and associate them with some verb and make their own language which of course their parents do understand but sometimes it became difficult for them too to interpret what they are saying.
I then started remembering what I used to do to express myself, specially for this toilet thing. I can't recall it as it had been such a long time since then. Than when I asked from my parents how i used to express, a very embarrassing thing was encountered. They told me that I used to piss anywhere I wanted to, I was never expressive but a revolutionary who felt proud in making places wet and smelly and might have been considered it as the revolutionary aim of my life. Piss Guevara...
But than why should only I face the embarrassment...for my knowledge I started taking the information of my friends of how they used to do. Two of them told that he/she use to start shaking their legs like Michael Jackson out of extreme pressure and their parents rush them to wash room.
But there are some revelations which is more interesting. There were some who just used to raise their skirts or lower their pants and rest the message was delivered. And this reminded me of the little, round and super healthy baby who when felt such sense of micturation just used to stand lower his pants and nickers, go totally nude and then fold and hold his hand tightly, head raised proudly as if going for battle and making an Elan of it. His this gesture was like I have done my part of conveying message and its now caretaker's responsibility to rush him to restroom or else he have no qualms in making the place around him a smelly lake of yellow water. But still there are something by which those who express themselves by word are better than those who just do actions. For e.g. What if action get unnoticed, which a voice or noise has less chance to, and How this action people differentiate by their single act of  pant lowering or skirt raising that they what to piss or want to go for potty because expressive people have different words for these two separate actions.
But one thing that I noticed was whatever the expression mode be, kids are kids and they really enjoy doing each and everything of theirs, let it be eating food, drinking water or attending ":Nature's Call".
Will try soon to be baby whisperer for something else....
